Cool Congress “Cupid’s Revolver” Live at Lee’s Palace Toronto 1991

Posted on April 4, 2012March 23, 2013 by chadwickgendron

Cupid’s Revolver

She’s the cutesy one on the left

With the big blue eyes that steal your breath

That was the day when the summer was over

The day she shot me with Cupid’s revolver

I remember everyone, they said it wouldn’t last

But we stood on our love long when the summer passed

She chained my lost heart to a shooting star

Then we shot the moon with Cupid’s revolver

Chorus:

I could have taken that summer and kept it always

I could have taken all of that free love for granted

Of course you didn’t call it free love in those days

In fact you just called it everything

I remember she knocked the cherub to the ground

Then aimed and shot me with Cupid’s revolver

Night number one was the one without sun

Her nipples were hard, that made being young fun

I tripped and cut myself and she walked over

There bleeding in the rain, I was shot by Cupid’s revolver

Behind that little girl smile was a woman untamed

If you’ve ever met one like that, you’ll know what I mean

I sold out my heart without even thinking twice

On sandy shores you’ve got no place to hide from Cupid’s revolver

(Chorus)

Bridge:

Though the nights were cold

It goes without saying it wasn’t worth letting that show

For the pop singer on the radio warmed the air

She said she had no choice, she’d missed with all of the arrows

Beneath the violet moon, she kissed me long

We fell to the sand, I was putty in her hands

She showed me things, I’d only dreamed about

Autumn wore a lead vest and slipped past Cupid’s revolver

That summer of ’83, the kids from Birmingham and me

The setting wasn’t tropical, but truly paradise

Guess they were all right, I’ve never seen her since

But I’ve still got the bullet hole from being shot by Cupid’s revolver

Chorus:

I could have taken that summer and kept it always

I could have taken all of that free love for granted

Of course you didn’t call it free love in those days

In fact you just called it everything

I remember she knocked the cherub to the ground

Then aimed and shot me with Cupid’s revolver

She aimed and shot me with Cupid’s revolver

With Cupid’s revolver

Cupid’s revolver

Cupid’s revolver

Cupid’s revolver (Repeat and Fade)
